Bellini and Safe & Sound take first steps together

Blue Bell, Pennsylvania: In these days of retail consolidation, how do designer boutiques continue to flourish? It takes two, baby, maintains Richard Shandelman, CEO and founder of Safe & Sound’s home safety program.
The Safe & Sound system will be soon be offered in conjunction with the Bellini line of designer children’s furniture at two Bellini establishments.
Both locations are in New Jersey, one in Short Hills, the other in Manalpan. They are owned and operated by David Zagorski of Westfield.
"We’re looking forward to offering our customers the finest furniture along with the most professional safety system available today, " comments Zagorski. "These brands offer a winning combination for customers and franchisees alike."
The Bellini franchise offers a proprietary line of European-designed, superbly crafted cribs, bedroom furniture and child-related products.
The Safe & Sound system enables franchisees to evaluate a home for potential health and safety hazards and protect against them with products that are designed to be functional and architecturally appealing.
"Bellini and Safe & Sound do more than just fill a consumer need, they fulfill every parent’s basic instinct—to surround and protect their children in the best environment money can buy, " remarks Richard Shandelman, a product engineer who founded the Safe & Sound system in 1992.
Safe & Sound became eligible to franchise the concept in 1998. "We believe franchisees multi-branding our systems will find there is a mutually beneficial relationship between Bellini and Safe & Sound," Shandelman adds.

Bellini and Safe & Sound both offer excellent products, have established first-rate reputations for service, and are designed to grow with the family through the years. In addition, the two separate and independent franchise systems are targeted to the same market segment. Therefore, Bellini franchisees like Zagorski will be able to target Safe & Sound products and services to an existing customer base.
Last year alone parents spent over one billion dollars on child safety devices.
The Safe & Sound concept incorporates parental education in the safety system. All products are tested at the corporate headquarters and are professional installed to insure proper functioning. A Safety Advisory Council comprising physicians, safety experts and health professionals, provides on-going direction and information to the franchise program. It is the only advisory board of its kind in the industry.
Zagorski opened his first Bellini franchise in 1990 and added a second only a year later. He attributes his rapid growth to the strength of the Bellini name and the increased buying power of his customer base. "Not only is the economy strong, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of dual income households," Zagorski explains.
Zagorski resides with his wife, Diane and two sons Eric 5 and Zachery, 3.
