The two most dangerous rooms in the house for toddlers are the
kitchen and the bathroom. Richard Shandelman, founder and president
of the child-safety company Safe & Sound in Philadelphia, says
he always tackles these rooms first. Of course, not everyone can
afford the services of a professional safety expert, but without
spending a lot of money, parents can use common sense to make these
rooms less hazardous for their toddlers.
Try to Foster a Positive Atmosphere for your Child
"Parents should think about creating a yes environment,"
advises Shandelman.. "You dont want to thwart your child
by constantly having to say, Dont do this, dont
do that."
For one thing, toddlers cant always remember rules from one
day to the next. Second, scolding a toddler will make the forbidden
item or place seem a lot more attractive, not less.
