Pediatrician’s Rx For Child Safety—
Make House Calls As a Safe & Sound Franchisee

King of Prussia, Pennsylvania: What can concerned physicians do to protect their patients in today’s increasingly business-oriented medical environment? Dr. Roberta Nataloni, a pediatrician on Long Island’s North Shore has a remedy. She is becoming a Safe & Sound franchisee and will administer America’s leading home safety system for children in conjunction with her medical practice. She and her staff will be certified to conduct home safety evaluations and recommend custom solutions so parents can protect children from health and safety hazards in their homes.
Founded in 1992 by Richard Shandelman, a product engineer and a safety consultant to a number of Fortune 500 companies, Safe & Sound is America’s premier child safety system, distinguished by providing comprehensive education programs for parents in addition to professional childproofing services. "We have developed several partnerships with hospitals near our corporate headquarters in the Philadelphia area," Shandelman explains. "We are looking forward to reaching nationwide as more doctors discover the benefits of including the Safe & Sound program as part of their private practice."

Nataloni believes a Safe & Sound franchise will be the perfect complement to her practice. The system will enable her patients’ parents to receive vitally important instruction in addition a system of protection that will safeguard their children at home. "Today I’m asked to see more patients in less time in order to cut insurance costs," says Nataloni. "While I believe medical costs can and should be controlled, I do not advocate cutting corners with care." It is estimated that 10,000,000 accidents involving children in this country each year. A staggering 90% could have been avoided. "The limited number and inferior quality of devices available at toy shops and hardware stores are not sufficient. They give parents a false sense of security," she says.

Nataloni discovered the Safe & Sound concept through the Internet. "I fell in love with the concept. There is none other like it in terms of depth of service and experience. I wish I had known about it when my own child (Rebecca, now 14) was an infant," she said.

Safe & Sound is the only home safety system guided by a Safety Advisory Council comprising psychologists, nationally and internationally recognized safety specialists, scholars, as well as other notable physicians. Homes outfitted with the Safe & Sound home safety system help parents create a positive environment. Instead of saying "no," caregivers can encourage their children to broaden their horizons by freely exploring the home—the child’s first frontier.

Natoloni emigrated from Italy after graduating from the University of Bologna. She completed her residency at Flushing Hospital in New York. She resides with her husband, Dr. Robert Nataloni, and daughter in Setauket, New York.
